Mother of God "of the unfading flower"

Antike original russische Ikone aus dem 19. Jahrhundert.

The depiction is widespread in Greece – especially in the West Islands. In Russia, although well-known and with its own holiday, it seems to be extremely rare.

Depicted is the enthroned or standing Mother of God holding a flower (rose= in her right hand in front of her chest. With her left arm, she embraces the crowned Christ Child standing on her lap or on a pedestal, holding the scepter and/or globe in her hands.
